1. 'Site double frontage' means a site having a frontage on two streets other than a corner plot.
  2. 'Site Interior or Tandem' means a site access to which is by a passage from a street whether such passage forms part of the site or not.
  3. 'Smoke stop door' means a door for preventing or checking the spread of smoke from one area to another.
  4. 'Storage space' means a space where goods of non-hazardous nature are stored and includes cold storage and banking safe vaults.
  5. 'Store room' means a room used as storage space.
  6. 'Storey' means portion of a building between ground surface to the floor next above it and then the space between any floor and the roof above it.
  7. 'Table' means a table annexed to these regulations.
  8. 'To abutt' with its geometrical variations and cognate expressions means abutting on road in such a manner that any portion of the building is on the road boundary.
  9. 'To erect' to erect a building means:
    1. to erect new building on any site whether previously built upon or not;
    2. to re-erect any building of which portions above the plinth level have been pulled down or destroyed
  10. 'Travel distance' means the distance an occupant has to travel to reach an exit.
  11. 'Unsafe building'-Unsafe buildings are those which are structurally unsafe, insanitary or not provided with adequate means of egress or which constitutes a fire hazard or otherwise dangerous to human life or which are unsafe by reason of inadequate maintenance dilapidated condition or abandonment.
  12. 'Urbanisable area' means the area earmarked for any of the following uses in the Development Plan:
    1. Residential
    2. Commercial
    3. Industrial
    4. Public and Semi-Public
    5. Organised and recreational open spaces
    6. Transportation and
    7. Water bodies and unusable land lying within the limits of the lands meant for all or any or the uses mentioned above.
  13. 'Verandah' means privy with at least one side open to the outside with the exception of one meter parapet on the upper floors to be provided on the open side.
  14. 'Water closet or W.C.' means privy with arrangement for flushing the pan with the water but does not include a bathroom.
  15. 'Width of road' means the whole extent of space within the boundaries of road measured at right angles to the course or intended course of direction of such road.
  16. 'Window' means an opening to the outside other than a door, which provides all or part of the required light or ventilation, or both to an interior space.

3. The words and expressions used but not defined in these regulations and defined in the Act, shall have the meanings assigned to them in the Act.
