This thrust on community development activities by GNIDA also extends to provide employment opportunities to the local populace. This can be broadly divided into two, one, the employment opportunities linked to the industries and other deals with developing skills for self- employment. To develop the skills of the people, GNIDA has setup 3 ITIs in the Greater Noida region which train people in various trades like welding, electronics, radio and TV servicing, etc. GNIDA is also planning to open another ITI to develop specific skills, needed by the Industries in the region. Greater Noida Authority is also acting as a facilitator between the local population and the corporates setting up the base here. GNIDA is approaching local industries to give employment to the displaced families. Also, to bridge the gap between the skills needed by the corporates and the skill levels of the local populace, the corporates are sponsoring to the students for this. These students are then directly absorbed into the company work force.
Corporates like New Holland Tractors have sponsored 20 boys to the ITI related employment scheme, thereby giving assured employment to one member of each of the 20 displaced families, once they complete ITI on the company expense, Super Seals has employed 4 people and Honda SIEL has employed 36 people through GNIDA's efforts. Other avenues of employment, both through the industries setting up office in the area and through self-employment schemes are being worked out. To widen the canvas for the students, Greater Noida Authority is giving entrance level coaching to students who are interested in sitting for the ITI examinations outside the region, thus giving them an opportunity to go further a field. Non-formal training in various areas like tailoring, toy making, etc. is also being imparted with the help of various non-governmental organisations. In the field of formal education, Greater Noida is improving the infrastructure of the existing schools through the additions of rooms, science labs, etc
