POWER |
Power
distribution is privatised and is managed by Noida Power Company, a joint
venture between Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority and the R P Goenka Group.
The MOU for the project was signed in 1992 and distribution to consumers was started in
December 1995.
Greater Noida
is the only region in North India where power distribution is being done by a company in
the private sector participation. The Noida Power company (NPCL) has already taken up
systems up gradation with a view to ensure quality and uninterrupted power supply to
industries for 24 hours, connections given within 15 days and complaints attended within
30-60 minutes are the important features of the project.
Financial closure
has been completed and environmental and other clearances such as for fuel linkages have
already been received. Plans are on the anvil for starting power generation. 36 MW
generating unit is proposed in the first phase incorporating facility for modular
expansion up to 100 MW.

TELECOM |
Greater Noida is directly integrated with Delhi Telephone
Exchange (prefix 95) and is connected to the National Telecom network on optical fibre
cable and digital microwave systems.
A fully electronic
exchange is working at Tilpata in Greater Noida area and a new electronic
optical fibre exchange will be commissioned at sector 31 of this area. Efforts are on to
privatise the basic telecom network in Greater Noida.

GANGA WATERS

The Greater Noida
Industrial Development
Authority has identified that the present water supply available to Greater
Noida would not be sufficient in another 5 years, thus in order to conform to their
promise of supply over demand, and availability of 24 hours a day water supply, they have
assessed the requirement of 85 cubic cm of water for the next 20 years for a population of
10 lakhs. This water supply would be provided by Ganga Water and for this GNIDA had
contacted the State Government and the Irrigation Department from where they got the
required clearance. A Water Plant / Tube-well is also being constructed with
investments to the tune of Rs. 100 Crores. The decision on the privatization of the
project may also be taken.

PETROL PUMPS

Greater Noida
Industrial Development
Authority has allotted two sites to the Indian Oil Corporation which
comprises a "Dhaba" / "Truck Parking" / "Convenience
Stores". These are the first two petrol
pumps which Greater Noida has allotted to Indian Oil Corporation directly. One petrol pump
is near the "Pepsi Bottling Plant" (Udyog Vihar Industrial Area) on the Surajpur
Bye pass Road. The second petrol pump is near the "Toy City" (Udyog Kendra
Industrial Area) on the Dadri - Surajpur - Chalera road. Both the petrol pump sites have a
green cover around them.

SEWERAGE AND DRAINAGE SYSTEM

Sewerage
and Drainage system of Greater Noida are superior from the other cities. They are
wide covered and underground. In the residential area brick work has done in the sewerage
and good quality of pipes has been laid with proper planning to drain the drainage
conveniently.
