GREENER
PASTURES
Imagine an industrial area where the power never goes, the roads are
perfect, the air is clean, the phones always work and red tape doesnt
exist. Imagine no further. You get all this and more at Ecotech, Greater
Noidas prime industrial complex promoted by Greater Noida Industrial
Development Authority (GNIDA), a U.P. Government Undertaking.
GNIDA was constituted in1991 with the objective of building a model
integrated township in proximity to Delhi. And make
Greater Noida the most preferred destination for residential and industrial
purposes for reasons of its ecofriendly, healthy
environment complete with all necessary infrastructure commercial and
institution facilities support systems.
Ecotech is Indias first truly international city. Apart from strict
environment clearance procedures for projects, 27% of
the total development area is allotted to greening, making Ecotech the mosty
ecofriendly area among similar developments. Of
course that is just one of the reasons we call it Greener Pastures. |

WORLD CLASS INFRASTRUCTURE
The most demanding, selective and choosy foreign investors are present at
Ecotech. Yes, the Koreans, the Japanese, the
Italians, Americans and even the Germans are neighbours here. Ecotechs
world class infrastructure has attracted top
corporations from all over the world. Not surprisingly the list of companies
already running projects here reads like a
corporate whos who with names like Daewoo Motors, LG Electronics, Honda
Siel, Pepsi, Denso India, Escorts Yamaha, Hongo
India and many more.
Phones in Ecotech are connected to the national network on optical fibre
cable and digital microwave systems. The
state-of-the-art electronic exchange will also provide ISDN services.
ROADS in Ecotech will lead to prosperity as soon a 20-km, six lane
expressway connects Ecotech to Delhi, reducing travel time
to Central Delhi to only 20 minutes. Within the city, roads are from 60
meters to 105 meters wide. Private buses connect
Ecotech to Noida and other major UP cities. In addition, bus services
connecting various parts of Delhi will soon be started.
A 550 meter long, eight-lane toll bridge across the Yammuna (from Maharani
Bagh in Delhi to sector 15A/16A in Noida) will
further reduce commuting time and make Greater Noida all the more
accessible.
RAILWAY lines, like the Hoerah-Delhi rail line, pass near the area and
Ecotech will soon have a railway station connecting
it to the national rail network.
INLAND CONTAINER DEPOT/ CENTRAL FREIGHT STATION with full fledged amenities
like bonded warehouse, comprehensive customs
requirements and containerization ( refrigerated container possibility) will
be available at Ecotech for use by industries by
end 2000. The spacious ICD is located on 25 acres of land and is well
connected.
SECURITY in Ecotech is not a concern area with upgraded law and order.
Additional personnel and equipment are already in
place and privatized security engaged for additional assurance. The security
is geared up with hi-tech machines/ software to
ensure prompt response.
Infrastructure development is planned in such a manner that supply will
always exceed demand. Following the development pace
of the National Capital Region around Delhi, Ecotechs development is geared
for an anticipated 3 lakh population by the year
2004. |

NURTURING GROWTH
Like healthy green plants, industrial plants also flourish in an ideal
environment. And every service and feature at Ecotech
is geared to provide the necessary support.
Every Thursday, a committee meets to clear allotment of land and vet project
reports so that entrepreneurs can move ahead. In
fact, no case remains pending beyond one week.
On the last Friday of each month, an empowered committee meets to monitor
cases related to land allotment for industry. And
for specific concerns of entrepreneurs, a monthly meeting of Udyog Bandhu
trouble shoots with agencies like Commercial
Institutions, the District Administration, the Pollution Control Board, The
Noida Power Company, Finance Companies, Transport
Agencies and Trade Tax Body etc.
At Ecotech, single-table functioning guarantees project clearance within a
month from allotment of plots, sanction of power
loads. Trade tax registration and exemption & environment clearance,
everything happens at record speed. Indeed, Honda Siel
produced their first Honda City sedan within18 months of land allotment and
made Rs. 3 crore on our early production
incentive scheme.
In fact, the administration is so responsive that officials provide
assistance right from suggesting projects to preparing
reports, identifying suitable technology and suppliers, and even providing
marketing assistance if required. Authority
officials also take initiative in helping entrepreneurs avail facilities and
benefits from other organizations and agencies.
Ecotech Greater Noida is the only township in Northern India to have adopted
a cluster approach for promoting medium and
small scale industries. Focused industrial pockets have been established,
like Mahila Udyami Park, Toy City and Export
Promotion Industrial Park with activity started for Food City, and Apparel
Park.
Mahila Udyami Park is the first integrated womens industrial park in
Northern India with 20 acres land area earmarked for
it. 64 plots comprising 11 acres have already been allotted, for women
entrepreneurs in sectors like readymade garments,
software, electrical gadgets, herbal cosmetics to name but a few.
ToyCity is another feather in the Authoritys cap being the first in the
country. Within its 125 acres area, over 100 toy
manufacturers have been allotted plots and investments made to the tune of
Rs.400 crores. 5 acres have been reserved for the
development of a technical training institute, a research centre, a library
and a toy museum.
The Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP), on a land area of 200 acres, is
designed to cater to non-polluting export units,
with focus on computer software & hardware, electronics, garments,
handicrafts and gems & jewellery sectors.
Greater Noida Authority is a socially responsible organization and is
conducting several programs for upliftment of the local
populace. Computer training institutes and other self employment generation
activities are being supported by the Authority.
Also, GNIDA has ensured mobile crche facilities for construction labour.
All these societal activities are geared towards
building a conducive environment and ensure technical manpower for
industries in the area.
Another project aimed at women is the Mahila Diary Scheme whose focus is to
generate self education among rural women and is
being implemented with aid of Pradeshik Cooperative Diary Federation , U.P.
The rate of industrial investment in Ecotech Greater Noida continues to
multiply with a wide variety of industries. Till
date, over Rs. 8500 crores has already been invested. |

NO HANDICAPS
In the annals of Indian town planning, no action plan compares as well with
international standards. Interflowing green
spaces, a grid iron pattern of roads for an efficient public transport
system, dispersal of major work centers to resolve
commuting problems, and a unique integration of a residential and industrial
complex.
Over 20,000 residential plots have already been allotted under different
schemes. Large public and private corporate houses
have already started construction for their group housing societies. Small
parks are being planned for each of the
residential sectors, besides picnic spots and town landmarks.
Commercial Complexes and neighbourhood shopping centers have been set up at
sector level for further convenience. A Social
and Cultural Center having an auditorium, libraries and recreational
facilities is being established in a 20 acre area.
Kailash Hospital with ultra modern facilities is already operational and
land allotted for more hospitals & nursing homes.
570 acres have been earmarked for a knowledge Park and over 50 allotments
have been made to institutions ranging from
schools, management institutes, vocational/ technical training institutes,
engineering colleges etc. The aim is to impart
quality education and also act as a bank of technical manpower for local
industries.
Export Promotion Council for handicrafts has been allotted 25 acres of land
for Trade Mart, to house exhibitions for
exporters around the year.
An international PGA standard 18 hole golf course, designed by world
renowned Greg Norman (already functional), a world class
sports and recreational facility, Time-share condominiums and a deluxe 5
star hotel are also proposed. |
